We are pleased to report that the chikumoto Laboratory of the Institute of Laser Engineering, Osaka University exhibited a booth and gave a stage presentation at the TEAM EXPO Pavilion of the Osaka Kansai Expo (EXPO 2025), held on May 18, 2025, at Yumeshima.

This exhibition was part of the TEAM EXPO Co-Creation Challenge, under the theme: The booth featured a 32-inch monitor embedded in a custom-designed cardboard fixture, which played a video introducing the project theme. In addition, the team conducted three types of laser-based aerial display demonstrations, using a beam-scanning laser projector, an aerial screen, and a drone.

A key highlight was a demonstration in which a single projector displayed images on multiple screens arranged in a row, showcasing the focus-free capability of the beam-scanning projection method, which enables flexible image projection without the need for refocusing.

The team also demonstrated 3D imaging using LiDAR, employing the same visible-light laser source used in the projector. The exhibit proposed the integration of projectors and LiDAR into future IoT lighting stations, maximizing the potential of laser-based aerial displays and the versatility of visible-light laser scanning technologies.

We are pleased to report that the chikumoto Laboratory of the Institute of Laser Engineering, Osaka University […]

[18
