About the Workshop

This workshop aims at boosting inertial fusion energy (IFE) research in the framework of US-Japan collaboration.
Inertial fusion energy research has entered a new stage with the demonstration of ignition in laser fusion in 2022. In the workshop, we will share recent results and ideas on IFE. The critical issues of IFE are 1) high gain fusion design, 2) high-repetition-rate laser technology, 3) diagnostic of fusion plasma, and 4) reactor system. We will focus on these issues with deepening the understanding of burning plasma physics. The workshop will drive further international collaborations on IFE and the related high energy density physics and bring young talents in these fields.

The 3rd workshop will cover topics including high gain fusion, burning plasma physics, and driver and target injection technologies. The 3rd workshop will be held as a satelite meeting of the 66th Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Plasma Physics.
