I would like to inform you that the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to Drs. Arthur Ashkin, G\u00e9rard Mourou and Donna Strickland for Groundbreaking Inventions in Optical Tweezers and Generation of High-intensity Ultra-short pulse lasers.<\/p>\n

The short pulse laser technology\u00a0[1]\u00a0<\/span>developed by Dr. G. Mourou and Dr. D. Strickland, which is one-half of the awards, leads to industrial applications such as new laser processing as well as a variety of attractive fields of sciences related to astrophysics, high energy physics, plasma physics, high energy density physics, high field physics, etc.<\/p>\n

With this technology invented, we quickly adopted it in high power lasers [2]. Since then, it has led to PW \/ LFEX Ultra-High-Intensity Laser Systems [3]\u00a0in ILE Osaka which can produce the highest peak intensity of 1000 trillion -2000 trillion watts in Japan, and many achievements have been made.<\/p>\n
