Technical Tours

We plan a technical tour to the Institute of Laser Engineering, Osaka University (ILE, Osaka U) and the Kansai Photon Science Institute, Japan Atomic Energy Agency (KPSI, JAEA). The latter is conducting exciting research using ultra-short pulse laser interactions with matter and is located just south of Kyoto.

Date: September 11, afternoon
Route A: Nara --> ILE, Osaka U --> KPSI, JAEA --> Nara
Route B: Nara --> KPSI, JAEA --> Nara

Due to the limited acceptance capability, number of the visitors on the IFSA2013 technical tour will be limited to about 50 for each route with first-come-first-get principle.

Visa application

In case you need a visa to enter Japan, the conference secretaries will provide official documents to obtain the entry visa. Please note that it takes more than two weeks to get a Japanese visa after applying at the Japanese Consulate.

Procedure for obtaining your visa

  1. Fill in and return the Visa Application Form (pdf file / word file) to the Conference Secretary by e-mail (ifsa2013@pac.ne.jp) or fax (+81-78-332-2506) not later than July 16, 2013.
  2. Make sure the receipt e-mail of your visa application from the Conference Secretary. If not, please let us (ifsa2013@pac.ne.jp) know.
  3. Documents required for your visa application will be sent to you by express airmail.
  4. Submit a visa application to an embassy consular office by yourself.
  5. Your visa will be issued in about a half-a-month.
  • A printed form is strongly suggested since a handwritten form often leads to mistakes in the paper work.
  • Your name and date of birth have to be the same as ones written in your passport.
