Pointing stable Sub-MeV electron beam generation using microcapillary target
–Abstract–
We have demonstrated pointing stable 100keV low-divergence electron beam generation by laser wakefield acceleration at the near-critical density. A ~30 mrad low divergence electron beam from a microcapillary hole with energies of sub-MeV was achieved at a laser intensity of 10^18 W/cm^2. The energies of the electron beam were up to 400 keV at 10^18 W/cm^2 and 50 keV even at 10^16 W/cm^2. The peak energy of hump or cutoff energy of the electron beams was confirmed by a particle-in-cell simulation. Such low divergence keV-class electron beam generation at sub-relativistic intensity will lead to various applications such as advanced radiotherapy and cancer treatment.
