出張報告：SACLA実験（大阪大学 Singappuli・竹歳・古川）

7/8-13の日程でSACLAにて行われた実験に阪大メンバーが参加してきました。

We participated in two experimental campaigns at the SACLA XFEL facility in Japan. The first campaign was led by Mattia Cipriani (ENEA, Italy) and focused on 3D-printed foam targets with various structures, a promising type of materials for inertial confinement fusion (ICF) applications. Using XFEL radiography, the team investigated shock wave propagation through different foam geometries, including octet-truss, body-centered cubic (BCC), Voronoi and chain structures. The measurements demonstrated that the propagation direction of the shock wave could be influenced by the internal pattern of the target. Thanks to both teams efficient work, all the planned measurements were completed one shift ahead of schedule.
The remaining beamtime was therefore allocated to our group’s targets, in particular those prepared by Kosuke Nishitani. His experiment aimed to investigate the perturbations induced by the fill tube attached to spherical ICF capsules. To mimic this configuration, a glass rod was attached to thin plastic foils, and 7 keV XFEL radiography combined with a LiF crystal was used to image the resulting perturbations with high spatial resolution.
The second campaign was led by Alexis Amouretti from our group. The objective was to capture, by XFEL radiography, the crystallization dynamic of CaSiO₃ using a higher-energy XFEL beam (12 keV). The preliminary results are promising and will be compared with previous time-resolved X-ray diffraction measurements to further validate the observed phase transformation.

7/8-13の日程でSACLAにて行われたX線自由電子レーザーラジオグラフィ実験に参加しました。前半はイタリア・フランス・ドイツ・日本での共同実験で、密接に連携できたと思います。また、ターゲットが良く出来ていたということもあり、良好なデータが取れているようでした。後半はアレキシが最近出したCaSiO3論文(PRB 2026)に関連する実験でした。こちらは、阪大＋スタンフォード大のコンビで進め、全体として面白いデータが得られていそうです。

上期の実験はこれで終了です。最近はシフトの合間に卓球をよくやっています。そこそこ上達してきたところで上期終了なので、下期には下手になっているかもしれません。

前半はイタリアグループの、後半は尾崎研究室のアレキシのビームタイムでXFELラジオグラフの実験をしてきました。どちらの実験でもいいデータが取れているようでよかったです。海外からはイタリア以外にもLULIやスタンフォードから人が来ていて、英語でコミュニケーションをとる機会が多かったです。実験に支障が出ない程度にはしっかり話すことができました。特にスタンフォードのアニルーとは同じシフトでたくさん話すことができ、お揃いのシールをもらいました。ありがとう。
