ILE Research Summit in Manila successfully held

To further boost the existing academic relationship of Osaka University with the Philippines, the ILE Research Summit in Manila was held on February 4 and 5, 2020 in participation with two of the top universities in the Philippines.

Prof. Ryosuke Kodama, ILE Director, visited the Philippines for the first time and was joined by Prof. Nobuhiko Sarukura and Prof. Hitoshi Hisada of the Osaka University Center for Global Initiatives.

On February 4th, they visited Mapua University to meet and discuss academic cooperation with Prof. Delia Senoro, Mapua’s Director for International Linkages for Research and Development.

The next day at the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), they visited the National Institute of Physics (NIP) and signed the agreement on academic exchange with Prof. Michael L. Tan, UPD Chancellor, and Prof. Wilson O. Garcia, NIP Director. The signing ceremony was also attended by Mr. Toshiyuki Taguchi, Researcher/Adviser for Scholarship and Youth Exchange Programs of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines.

To celebrate this milestone of a reinforced partnership, ILE hosted a reception dinner attended by UP administration officials, faculty, and students who previously worked or visited ILE. The said gathering was held on February 5th at the historic Manila Hotel.
