Romanian Delegation, Including Commissioner General for EXPO 2025, Visits Institute of Laser Engineering

On June 27, 2025, a Romanian delegation led by Mr. Ferdinand Nagy, Commissioner General of the Romania Pavilion at EXPO 2025 Osaka, visited the Institute of Laser Engineering (ILE), the University of Osaka. The delegation included former Ambassador of Romania, Mr. Ovidiu Dranga, and Dr. Calin Ur, Director of the Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP), among other distinguished members.

The delegation was welcomed by ILE Director Prof. Kodama Ryosuke and Specially Appointed Prof. Tanaka Kazuo, who also serves as Research Advisor to ELI-NP. After a cordial discussion, the visitors toured the institute’s large-scale laser facilities, guided by Prof. Yogo Akifumi, Specially Appointed Prof. Jitsuno Takahisa (also affiliated with ELI-NP), and Assistant Prof. Nambu Tomoaki.

The visit is expected to further strengthen scientific and technological collaboration between Japan and Romania, and promote future cooperation among academia, industry, and government sectors.
