Assoc. Prof. Hiroshi Sawada and his student from the University of Nevada, Reno visited our institute.

On June 17, 2026, Associate Professor Hiroshi Sawada and his PhD student from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) visited the ILE. During their visit, they toured major experimental facilities, including the GEKKO XII and LFEX laser systems, and exchanged views with researchers on ongoing activities in laser science and high-energy-density science.
On the same day, they also met with Professor Beverley Anne Yamamoto, Regional Director of the North American Center for Academic Initiatives, as part of the university-wide academic cooperation agreement established earlier this year between the University of Osaka and the UNR. Professor Yamamoto, Professor Sentoku, Assistant Professor Nakatsuji, Associate Professor Sawada, and his student discussed ongoing collaborative research activities and opportunities for further academic exchange.
The visit was arranged in conjunction with Associate Professor Sawada’s collaborative experiment with the HPS Group at SACLA and their participation in OPTO2026.
