Announcement of the 5th Energy Bimonthly Seminar by Quadruple Matrix Center

As part of the 2026 Bimonthly Seminar Series
“Resources, Energy Technologies, Information Systems and Global Technology Governance,” the 5th seminar will be held in a hybrid format.

Since its launch in January 2026, this seminar series has explored contemporary issues surrounding international order, economic security, and research security related to energy, materials, and resources from interdisciplinary and international perspectives.

We are pleased to invite: Prof. Yuzo Murayama (Professor Emeritus, Doshisha University), a leading scholar in the field of economic security, to deliver a lecture at the 5th seminar.

Title: The Rise of Economic Security and Japan-US-China Relations: State Competition over Advanced Technology

Abstract
Professor Murayama will discuss the fundamental concepts and analytical framework of economic security, drawing on historical developments from the Japan-US semiconductor disputes to recent US-China technological competition. The lecture will also examine key features of Japan’s economic security policy and provide perspectives on the evolving international order.
